I remember various people stopping to observe what was going on. Our starting point was right on Miami Beach, off of Lincoln Road, and our route took us around Lincoln and back to the beach. Including volunteers, I estimate about 50 people at most, give or take. I lost count of how many people turned out for this walk. And God made a way for me to not have to work this past weekend. When I recently heard that the most recent one was coming around, I made a decision in my heart. You see, this past weekend was A21's second annual "Walk For Freedom." I'd seen the pictures from last year's walk as they were going up on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
One of its many partners is A21.īut this past weekend was the first time since then that I really stepped forward in this crusade. Now, remember, CF is partnered with many other churches and organizations around the world. All proceeds went to Christ Fellowship's Hope For Freedom initiative. We ran a garage sale on a Saturday morning to raise funds and awareness. So were several friends with whom I shared a Bible study. Doesn't it cut you to the heart? That of the AT LEAST 27 million people currently trapped in slavery, NINETY-NINE PERCENT DON'T MAKE IT OUT?! I typed that last statistic in bold print in hopes that it really gets your attention. somebody is forced into the bondage of modern-day slavery."

And so I first heard some very disturbing facts and stats which I will share in the next few short paragraphs.* My church, Christ Fellowship, is partnered with A21. Christine is the founder of the A21 Campaign, one of the most active organizations in the fight against human trafficking. The speaker who first brought this to my attention was Christine Caine, who has become one of my favorite speakers and writers. Several years ago, I was first made aware of this growing epidemic during an event at my church's Palm Beach Gardens location.
Slavery - in any day and age - is not okay. The trafficking of humans across the globe is modern-day slavery. The message we were sending was very clear: Human trafficking is a real issue. This past weekend, I had an opportunity to go down to Miami with a friend of mine to participate in an event called "Walk For Freedom." The walk, only one of several in Florida and many more around the world, was done for the purpose of raising awareness and spreading the word.
